From the seventh.

This is set in the "Tales from the Blind Pig" universe.

Alex looked at me seriously. "And I suppose that you are going to tell me about the other time, then?" I nodded. "Yep. I'll warn you, it's a bit graphic, though. Let's get some fresh water first." I got up and took the pitcher of water into the kitchen. As it was refilling, I started to dredge up the old memories of horrors long since buried. Not a pleasant way to remember what my life used to be like, then then, one can't have everything.

Alex had gotten up and went to the rest room as I came back in with the pitcher. I set the pitcher down and waited for his return, deep in thought. I'd have to be somewhat careful as just how I explained this, but ultimately decided on just telling the truth, no matter how ugly it was. He came back in, carrying a box of kleenex, a towel, and a ticking kitchen timer. "I put a couple pizzas in the oven. Besides, you've already told me something kinda dirty. Blood, gore, and guts won't do anything else." he glanced at the timer. "You've got about an hour." I nodded. "OK, but I did give you warning. It started when the studio was paid an absurd amount of money to fly me somewhere..."

Onward to "The Cat goes to war"..
